Betty – Bright & Dark

Betty is a New York-based alternative pop group. They are possibly best known for providing the theme song for “The L Word” and they are a very popular live act, especially with lesbian and gay audiences.

Peter Jöback got to know them while he was living in New York and they appeared on his latest album “East Side Stories”. He has raved about the group on numerous occasions and even gets a thank you on the credits for their latest album.

I was immediately curious about a song about Honey West, one of my “new” favourite TV shows. I bought that song on iTunes and listened to the snippets from the rest of the album. I loved what I heard and finally bit the bullet and ordered the entire album from that wonderful online store, CD Baby.

The album is called “Bright & Dark” and is quite aptly named. The songs represent pop from bright to dark and all shades in between. It is laden with pop culture references and is quite simply compelling and infectious.

A video for the song “Did U Tell Her” has been released featuring concert footage. Check it out.
