Hugh Sheridan – actor/singer

Confession time. I’m in love with Ben Rafter from TV’s “Packed To The Rafters”. I could wax lyrical about all the reasons and fill a whole post but I won’t.

Anyway, Ben’s alter ego is actor Hugh Sheridan. He has become very popular through “Packed To The Rafters”, one of the highest rating shows on Australian TV. What a lot of people don’t know is that Hugh is a talented singer and has been singing for years.

He has just released his debut single “Just Can’t Throw Us Away” with an album due out by the end of the year and it’s rather good. Unfortunately, it has not been picked up by radio and in the absence of a video clip, it may disappear. In fact, there doesn’t seem to be any promotion at all apart from one understandably nervous  TV appearance and a token website. So do Hugh a favour and nip off to iTunes right now! Less than two bucks – how can you go wrong?

Here is the song, husky voice and all. I’m a sucker for husky voices. 😉

All looks good except for the singlet and braces look which I’ve never liked.

He’s got a great voice but the recording of the vocal sounds rushed. It doesn’t sound ‘natural’ if you know what I mean. If this is the final studio version then I can see why radio aren’t embracing it. Maybe he has some more hits on his upcoming album.

I’d like to support him – given he’s both cute and a total woofter.

    Go the woofters!

I think I know what you mean. The vocal does sound a little rough. It took me a few listens to really get into it. I really like it now but maybe not the best choice for the first single.

Hey guys, just to let you know Hugh has released his second single ‘All About Me’. It is a much more upbeat song and is being played on radio airways before being out on CD in about 10 or so days time, at the same time as the video clip is finalized.

From what I’ve heard, Sony have conceded that they stuffed up the release of ‘Just Can’t Throw Us Away’, because they wanted to have it released by the time of the ‘Dancing With The Stars’ finale.

The album will be called ‘Speak Love’ named after one of the songs. It will be released in November, prior to Christmas, and unlike ‘Just Can’t Throw Us Away’ most of the other songs on the album will be more of a Funk style, rather than Pop.

Thanks for the lowdown Thomas. It makes more sense now with the first single.

At least this time there will be a proper video and the cover artwork makes him look a lot edgier. Can’t wait to hear the new single.
