Eurovision Song Contest on Australian TV

SBS have confirmed the viewing details of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Australia.

  • Eurovision First Semi Final airs 7:30pm Friday May 15th
  • Eurovision Second Semi Final airs 7:30pm Saturday May 16th
  • Eurovision Final 2009 airs 7:30pm Sunday May 17th

They will be sending their own commentators this year which, while good on one hand, is disappointing in that we won’t get to hear the fabulous Graham Norton’s commentary. He has taken over from Terry Wogan in the UK and we normally get the UK commentary.

You can preview the entries for this year at the following link:

And because I have a Swedish bias, here’s a look at the Swedish entry – opera meets disco.

I do have a soft spot for Sakis Rouvas so here is the Greek entry. Very catchy.

Norway is a little different but also incredibly catchy and 22 year old Alexander has the cutest smile and will no doubt win over the teenage girls.

One of my favourites – Finland – “Lose Control” by Waldo’s people.

I still haven’t seen or heard most of the entries so I won’t start making any bold predictions but I am looking forward to this year’s contest as always. I have pre-ordered the CD and will be watching both semi-finals as well as attending James‘ Eurovision party.

EDIT: I just noticed that the Eurovision album is already available for sale at iTunes. The physical copy doesn’t come out for another couple of weeks.
