Carl Riseley – new music to swoon over

The Stillest Hour

Carl Riseley was a contestant on Australian Idol 2007 who eventually came third. He was the trumpet playing sailor with the penchant for swing and jazz music.

Carl was a relative newcomer to singing but he had/has a really nice, sounding voice, good looks and a charming, down-to-earth personality – someone you could sit down and have a beer with. Plus I liked his style of music. Another thing I really liked and respected about Carl was that he was upfront from episode one about the style of music he loved and wanted to record. He stuck with his style despite criticism from the Idol judges. You could tell by the end of his run on the show that the judges admired him for his showmanship and his ability to learn and develop.

Ironically, the winner and runner-up of Australian Idol 2007 still have not released proper albums of their own but Carl is about to unleash his second album on 24 April 2009 – “The Stillest Hour”. The album will be a mixture of original songs and standards.

What got me excited on this overcast Sunday morning was that the video clip for the title track has been released and what a beautiful song it is. And here it is:

Here is the tracklisting for the album which is less than three weeks away.

1. Tenderly
2. The Stillest Hour
3. When I Fall In Love
4. Come Away With Me
5. Never Give Up
6. My Funny Valentine
7. Arms Of A Woman
8. The Way You Are Tonight
9. Don’t Let Me Be Lonely Tonight
10. Magnolia
11. Reprise (The Stillest Hour)

The album can be pre-ordered at JB HiFi by clicking here.

The official site is offline at the moment which hopefully means that it is being redesigned for the new album. Check it out later at www.carlriseley.com.au.

    Hi Mr Grant Whittingham

So you’ve created yet another website ha!

    Well done!

You have been a busy man!

I’ll try and appreciate what you give as much as possible on twistinthedark.wordpress.com!

I missed you on thee internet! You are always great! Always calm and collected. It’s a shame my life is always in a big mess (very much unlike yours)!

I love you, you are my ABBAFanFriend.

    Kind Regards
    Samuel Inglles

      Thanks for the comment.

I don’t see this so much as creating a new website like my other ones, but more of a blog for dumping my thoughts and sharing what music I’m enjoying. Let’s face it, it is hard to discover new music these days. Most of the stuff I’m enjoying these days, I discover via the internet – blogs, music websites and MySpace.

I may appear to be calm and collected but even I have my moments. There’s usually some mess to clean up. I guess that’s life in these modern times. 🙂

I started listening to it and then I fell asleep. Not my cup of tea. But he is cute.
