I can’t believe that before today, it’s been almost two months since I last posted anything. The weekend I saw Kathy Griffin and Cyndi Lauper (that will be another post), I became very sick. Earlier that week, I had been caught in a typical Sydney torrential downpour and got drenched through and through. I couldn’t just escape the rain. Even crossing the road meant wading through a raging river up past my ankles. Since my friend and I were on our way to a night of gay cinema, I checked souvenir shops on Oxford Street for at least a dry t-shirt but there was nothing suitable. When we got to the cinema, I tried to dry myself under a hand dryer in the toilets. I got a lot of strange looks, especially since the dryer was a non-adjustable one and I had to bend myself into all sorts of positions to get under the damn thing. It didn’t do a very good job so I had to sit in the cinema feeling very damp.
Fortunately, the movie was very good. Breakfast With Scot about an effeminate young boy and how he changes the lives of everyone around him. Very moving with lots of humour.
After the movie, it was a case of getting home and drying off. I didn’t think much of it until that weekend when the violent cough started and the vomiting and the laryngitis. Not fun at all. I even had to take a week off work, take three courses of strong antibiotics and have lots of visits to the doctor. Combined with the cough medicine (aka happy juice) that has left me feeling very drowsy, I haven’t felt like doing much at all, much less writing the blog.
I am feeling much better now but the cough is still lingering. I just had another violent coughing fit in between writing about Kiki Dee and this post. I’ve had a swig of happy juice and it seems to have settled again. It seems to be my curse. Whenever I get a cough, it stays for such a long time. I once coughed for a year!
Anyway, enough moaning about coughing. Suffice to say that I’m back. 🙂
